Here are some great ways we suggest for cutting back on your budget at the bar.
1. Forget the full bar, instead serve beer and wine (both white and red) with one or two signature cocktails that you have personalized.
2. Have some inexpensive nonalcoholic drinks on hand. Consider fresh lemonade or sparkling water with colorful wedges of orange, lemon or lime.
3. Topshelf isn't a high priority (guests usually can't tell the difference between top and middle shelf liquer).
4. Dress up drinks with garnish, it gives the appearance that you've spend more. Garnishes are usually provided free of charge by the venue or caterer.
5. Eliminate shots - these will drastically raise your bar tab and aren't necessary.
6. If you're stocking your own bar it is sometimes possible to negotiate corkage fees out of your contract, so definitely ask.
7. Offer Coffee! Close the bar an hour early and give your guests a chance to sober up before they hit the road. This idea could save you hundreds of dollars.
8. Make sure your staff knows not to pre-open bottles or clear glasses from tables that aren't empty.
